5 Tips & Tricks To Help Change Your Daily Narrative
Each of us loves feeling positive and happy; it’s a great state to be in! Unfortunately, humans have a natural tendency towards what is called “negativity bias”. This simply means that, in order to protect us from harm and learn from past experiences, our brains tend to remember and pick up on the negative things that happen to us without much focus. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t turn things around and choose to look on the bright side - it might just take a bit more energy and mindfulness.
Defy The Transient Baseline
Happiness is often a rollercoaster ride that rises and dips as the days come and go. Furthermore, each big event sets a new baseline for excitement and fulfilment if we aren’t careful. One need only take a look at some of the largest businesses in the world - there’s always some new goal and a new height to reach in life. Sometimes it’s best to take a moment to reset your baseline for happiness. What do you need, right now, to be happy and content with your life? Begin to define these things for yourself and return to them each day - this will help you stay grounded and at peace with your current situation.
Enjoy Every Day Of Your Life
There’s more to each day than rising, completing your tasks, and falling asleep; humans tend to be forward thinkers, looking to the future to fulfil our desires for positivity and happiness. However, if we stop to look at the life mulling about all around us, we soon realize that the positivity is well within reach - today! Every day should be a joy in one way or another - all you have to do is stop, observe, and grasp the sensation. If you have a difficult time slowing down, set aside a little time each day to explore meditation; put on a guided track or listen to a babbling brook. You don’t have to empty your mind to be able to sit and enjoy your presence in this world; sometimes all we need is to be still for a few moments to realize that we truly can be happy in the present moment. 
Get Out In Nature
Some might argue that we’ve lost an enormous connection that we used to have with nature.  In fact, many are discovering that pull in different ways - wanting to homestead, grow food, bring plants indoors, go on hikes, or even spend a weekend camping! The great outdoors really can be a great tool for bettering your mental state; if you find that you can’t set aside large amounts of time for this adventure, start by taking short, ten-minute walks outside. Try opening all of your windows for a while during the day - let the fresh air in and focus on the different smells and sounds carried through the breeze.

This is where affirmations enter the stage - an affirmation is a short, memorable sentence that you can repeat to yourself at varying times throughout the day.  You can choose affirmations for self-care, motivation, perseverance… etc.

Write down a list of affirmations that you can use throughout the week to help keep your mind on positivity. Choose a time of day to recall these in turn - see if they help turn your mind into a bank of positivity!
Reflect On Your Day - Every Day
One of the most important things you can do is to rewrite the narrative of your day. Often, as we lie awake in bed at night, we rehash the day’s events in a mostly negative light; this is, again, due to our tendency towards negativity. The difficulty lies only in accepting this for what it is - at this point you can decide to turn the story around and spin a new web of memories! For instance: perhaps you got stuck in traffic on the way to work because you left five minutes later than usual; however, because of this, you got to hear your favorite song and sing at the top of your lungs with no one watching!
Life is what we make of it - at the end of the day, even the richest of us must choose to be happy! Awaken tomorrow with purpose and intent, solidly committing to a life of greater positivity and awareness. You become what you think about; let the narrative be one of positive thought and uplifting mindfulness - you won’t regret it.
